Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit is our new fruit energy bar, created with a very specific goal: to achieve an extremely compact source of carbohydrates that could be easily combined with our gels and the rest of the FANTÉ products.

Each unit provides 33 g of carbohydrates in just 6.5 cm, becoming the FANTÉ bar with the highest carbohydrate concentration by net weight. Its minimal size allows you to carry several units, taking up very little space, and to alternate them with gels during long-duration training and competitions.

But if one thing defines this bar, it is the fruit. More than 62% of each Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit is fruit, making it the energy bar with the highest percentage of fruit on the market. This allows us to achieve a very intense and natural flavor in its three versions: cherry, pear, and apricot.

No flavorings, no sweeteners, no preservatives, with practically 4-5 ingredients, this means that there is finally atruly 100% naturalenergy bar on the market

. The formulation combines the fructose naturally present in the fruit with added glucose, resulting in an estimated glucose ratio of approximately 1:0.6–0.7

.Why do we speak of an approximate ratio? Precisely because we have prioritized using more than 62% real fruit

. The natural composition of fruit can vary and, with such high percentages, we cannot guarantee that all units and batches will mathematically maintain an identical ratio. That is why we have preferred to be transparent and speak of an estimated range instead of declaring an exact ratio.In addition, each bar provides 150 mg of sodium. Almost 3 years to create our Energy Bar Pâte de FruitEnergy Bar Pâte de Fruit was not born as just another energy bar. It is a product we have been developing for almost 3 years

and whose story begins, precisely, in our own factory.

When manufacturing our energy gels, we work directly with high-quality fruit at our zero-kilometer facilities. During the process, we realized there was a part of that fruit, especially its pulp, that we wanted to give much more prominence to.And we started asking ourselves a question:

could we take our way of working with fruit into a solid format designed to be consumed during exercise?

We wanted to do something that, on paper, seemed contradictory

About a year ago, the concept finally took shape.We wanted to develop an extremely small fruit energy bar

, with a very high concentration of carbohydrates and a texture completely different from a conventional bar or a typical gummy.It had to be solid enough to maintain its structure in the wrapper, be transported, and hold up during a workout

, but we wanted everything to change when you put it in your mouth.Our goal was to achieve a texture on the border between solid and semi-liquid

: extremely soft, capable of being broken by applying minimal pressure, and practically melting in the mouth without the need for chewing.Because when you are competing at high intensity, you don't want to spend several seconds chewing a bar

. We wanted two bites to be enough.

We knew how we wanted to make it. We were missing someone who could take it to an industrial scale

The problem appeared when we tried to move the idea into production.Our ISO 8 factory is prepared to manufacture our gels and other sports nutrition products such as recovery drinks, isotonics, or capsules, but achieving this transformation of the fruit required very specific temperature, cooking, and process control

, as well as machinery that we currently do not have in our facilities.We knew what we wanted to achieve.

But we didn't have the necessary tools to do it exactly as we wanted.

We then began looking for manufacturers in Spain capable of taking our formulation to an industrial scale.

And a second problem appeared.We didn't want to use preservatives, flavorings, or sweeteners

. We wanted to maintain the same philosophy we follow with our gels: a formulation that is as natural as possible with fruit as the true protagonist.

The answer was practically always the same.

Nobody wanted to manufacture it for us.

Working with such a quantity of fruit, achieving such a soft texture, and at the same time achieving a stable product during its shelf life meant taking on an especially critical process. None of the manufacturers we contacted wanted to do it under the conditions we proposed because they didn't want to take the risk.

So we had to keep looking.

And we ended up in France, in a workshop with more than 200 years of historyFrance is one of the places where pâte de fruit

is part of a tradition that goes back generations.There, we finally found what we had been looking for for so long: a French workshop more than 200 years old

, which still preserves traditional processes like cooking in bronze pots, but combines them with the technology and control necessary to manufacture with precision on today's scale.

And, above all, they knew how to achieve exactly that texture we had in mind:

We told them who we were, how we manufactured our own products at FANTÉ, our way of working with fruit, and everything we had been trying to achieve during the previous years.

We were two manufacturers speaking the same language.

And we managed to convince them.

More than 50 prototypes until finding the exact pointFrom there began more than a year of joint work

We tested different fruit proportions, formulations, temperatures, and processes. A prototype could have the flavor we were looking for but be too firm. Another could melt perfectly in the mouth but not have the necessary stability. Others simply did not deliver what we had in mind.

We surpassed 50 prototypes.

Out of 10 proposed flavors, only 3 made it to the first productionDuring development, we worked on 10 possible fruits

The choice wasn't accidental, either.We wanted to introduce different flavors to those that already predominated in our range to increase variety and palatability when you combine different FANTÉ products during many hours of exercise

.When you do endurance for hours, constantly consuming the same flavor can end up being monotonous. Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit had to provide not only another texture, but also another flavor experience within our fueling strategy

That is why we needed a high amount of carbohydrates, but we didn't want a large bar that would take up half a pocket or that you would need to be chewing for too long.The goal was exactly the opposite: many carbohydrates in the smallest format possible

.Finally, we managed to concentrate 33 g of carbohydrates in approximately 38-40 g of product and only 6.5 cm in length

When we initially proposed the product, it seemed extremely difficult to achieve such a concentration while maintaining the percentage of fruit and the texture we were looking for.

But it was essential.We wanted you to be able to carry it along with your gels, take it out during a high-intensity section, and finish it practically in two bites

Precisely for this reason, we designed a format of only 6.5 cm: we wanted to provide between 30-35 g of carbohydrates in the smallest space possible so you can carry several units without taking up virtually any space and alternate between different textures and products during many hours of exercise.

You can consume it all at once or divide it during your workout. Its extremely soft texture makes it easy to break apart and dissolve in the mouth with practically no chewing, which is especially useful when running, cycling, or competing at high intensities.

One of the main challenges during endurance sports is not only consuming enough carbohydrates, but also transporting and consuming them comfortably for hours.

That is why we didn't want to develop another conventional energy bar. We wanted to pack between 25 and 35 g of carbohydrates into an extraordinarily small formatthat could coexist in your pocket with our gels.

After multiple tests, we managed to concentrate 33 g of carbohydrates into a bar just 6.5 cm long.

The result is FANTÉ’s highest carbohydrate concentration bar by net weight: small to carry, big on carbohydrates.

More than 62% fruit

The fruit isn't just there for flavor. More than 62% of our Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit is fruit.

We wanted to bring the pâte de fruitconcept into the world of sports nutrition, maximizing the fruit's role to create the energy bar with the highest percentage of fruit on the market.

This is especially noticeable in the flavor. Cherry tastes like cherry, pear like pear, and apricot like apricot because the fruit makes up the majority of the product.

Furthermore, using such a high percentage of fruit means a significant part of the fructose in the formula comes directly from it.

Why is the glucose ratio approximate?

Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit combines added glucose with the fructose present in the fruit itself, aiming for an approximate ratio of 1:0.6–0.7 glucose.

Unlike a gel formulated primarily from precisely weighed amounts of maltodextrin, glucose, and fructose, here we work with more than 62% fruit.

Fruit is a natural raw material, and its composition can show small variations. With such a high percentage, it is extremely complex to guarantee that every single unit manufactured has the exact same ratio.

That is why we do not declare a fixed ratio on the packaging. We prefer to speak of an approximate ratio of 1:0.6–0.7, which better represents the real nature of the formulation.

Each Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit contains 150 mg of sodium.

This amount was chosen with an eye toward how we actually use our products: by combining them.

Products like our gels can already provide significant amounts of sodium. That is why we did not want to introduce another excessively high source when athletes are using several products simultaneously.

The 150 mg allows you to add sodium during exercise while designing a comprehensive nutrition and hydration strategy, avoiding gastrointestinal distress when combining the Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit with our gels and other carbohydrate sources.

Over 50 prototypes to achieve a nearly semi-liquid texture in the mouth

Achieving 33 g of carbohydrates and over 62% fruit in 6.5 cm wasn't enough.

It had to be easy to eat while exercising.

For over 6 months, we developed more than 50 prototypes, modifying fruit percentages, proportions, temperatures, and various production parameters to find the perfect balance between solid and liquid.

We wanted it to maintain its structure perfectly outside the mouth, yet provide the softest and smoothest texture possiblewhen eaten.

The result is a pâte de fruit that requires minimal pressure to bite into. Once in the mouth, it practically melts and takes on an almost semi-liquid sensation, reducing the need to chew and avoiding the sticky texture on the teeth that can be particularly uncomfortable during exercise.

Cherry, pear, and apricot all share this same texture philosophy.

Designed to be combined, not to force you to choose a single carbohydrate source

Energy Bar Pâte de Fruit is a new piece in the FANTÉ nutrition system.

We don't believe you should have to choose between consuming only gels, only drink, or only bars for several hours.
